Silver and Uncut Herkimer Diamond Leaf RingSOLDA gorgeous large uncut natural Herkimer Diamond gemstone encased in a beautiful and unique setting of fine silver leaves.
This is a one-of-a-kind ring set with a unique gemstone and made entirely by me using traditional silversmithing techniques. It is constructed from solid silver and measures a UK size P or US size 7 3/4. Each leaf has been lovingly hand cut and individually soldered in place. I have oxidised and highlighted the silver to give a beautiful patina. I then coat the silver with several layers of a microcrystalline wax to help protect the oxidised surface. The oxidisation can gradually continue to wear on the raised areas to a patina unique to your ring. A really striking ring. Herkimers are amazing gemstones around five hundred million years old and are found only in a small area of Herkimer County, New York. They are naturally this shape, with a double termination - or two pointed ends - because of the way they formed in gas bubbles in lava, rather than in rock. They generally have 18 facets and they often have inclusions such as water and oil. The Herkimer in this ring has small oil inclusions.
