​Sterling Silver White Horse Necklace with Seraphenite and Blue Moonstone

I live quite close to Uffington White Horse and it is a magical place. ​This stunning pendant has been inspired by the magnificent beast.
This pendant is constructed from layers of thick sterling silver and is entirely handmade by me to my unique design. Each layer has been meticulously hand cut and soldered.
The magical White Horse leaps above his 'Dragon Hill' - a Russian seraphinite mound - and beneath a shimmering moon(stone). 
The substantial sterling silver chain is finished with a handmade clasp and the silver has been oxidised, brushed and wax with a microcrystalline wax to help protect the oxidised surface. Oxidisation is a surface treatment that can continue to lighten with wear.
As with all of my pieces, all joins are soldered closed to prevent any piece coming apart.

Uffington is the oldest of all the white horses and was created in the Bronze Age. It's believed that the horse could have been cut by worshippers of the sun god Belinos or Belenus, who was associated with horses. He was sometimes depicted on horseback, and Bronze and Iron Age sun chariots were shown as being drawn by horses. This may be why the horse was cut into the chalk on the shallower slope at the top of the hill so that he could be seen from above by the god himself.
​Dragon Hill is a natural chalk hill with an artificial flat-top situated below and immediately in front of the White Horse. Tradition states that this is where St George slew the dragon and the bare chalk patch on the top of the hill was caused by the dragon's spilled blood.

​Seraphinite is named after the biblical seraphs or seraphim angels because of the 'feathery appearance' present in the stone. 
It is generally dark green to gray with silver chatoyancy, has a hardness of between 2 and 4 on the Mohs scale and is mined in a limited area of eastern Siberia in Russia
Seraphinite is a spiritual and healing stone. It is believed to increase psychic awareness and intuition and to encourage 'angelic' out-of-body journeys during meditation. It is also believed to aid cellular regeneration.
Seraphinite also opens the Heart Chakra enabling you to accept and to give unconditional love.

Moonstone is a stone for new beginnings - a stone of inner growth and strength.  It helps to soothe emotional instability and stress and provide calmness, balance and harmony. It is a stone strongly associated with  women and feminine wisdom.  
Moonstone is the birthstone for June.
