Silver and Carnelian Feather Earrings
Inspired by Native American dream catchers, these stunning earrings are entirely handmade to my original design.
Constructed from sterling silver, they are also set with two carnelian gemstones.
Each focal element is constructed from a silver base plate with a raised edge and each feather has been hand cut from layers of sterling silver
The silver has been oxidised, highlighted and waxed with a microcrystaline wax to help protect the oxidised surface. Oxidisation is a surface treatment that will lighten with wear.
These earrings are a lovely weight, suitable for wearing all day long.
Your earrings will come gift boxed - perfect for giving.
Please note that the ear wires are slightly thicker than the standard 0.8 mm ear wires.
Material - sterling silver
Overall size - approximately 65 mm (from the top of the ear wire) x 10 mm
Gemstone - approximately 5 mm carnelian
Ear wire thickness - 1 mm
The dream catcher originated with the Ojibwe people and Lakota tribe. There are several legends attributed to it's symbolism, but a common belief is that they ensnare bad spirits and allow good dreams to influence the sleeper. Each element of the dream catcher carries significance, from the circular shape representing the circle of life to the feathers that would provide a soft ladder for the good dream to glide down and gently enter into the dreamer’s mind.
