Small 'Catcher of Dreams' Silver and Carnelian Feather Pendant
SOLD
Inspired by Native American dream catchers, this silver and carnelian pendant is handmade to my original design. The carnelian setting is constructed with a raised circular border and the feather has been hand cut from separate layers of sterling silver which have been soldered together. The silver has been oxidised, highlighted and waxed with a microcrystaline wax to help protect the oxidised surface. Oxidisation is a surface treatment that will lighten with wear. This is a lovely lightweight necklace, perfect for people who prefer more delicate neck wear. Your necklace will come gift boxed - perfect for giving.
Material - sterling silver Overall size - approximately 50 mm x 10 mm Gemstone - approximately 5 mm carnelian Chain - 18" lightweight trace chain
The dream catcher originated with the Ojibwe people and Lakota tribe. There are several legends attributed to it's symbolism, but a common belief is that they ensnare bad spirits and allow good dreams to influence the sleeper. Each element of the dream catcher carries significance, from the circular shape representing the circle of life to the feathers that would provide a soft ladder for the good dream to glide down and gently enter into the dreamer’s mind.
